CONFIRMATION CLASSES – Father Joel's Inquirer’s/Confirmation Classes takes place in Meeting Room #1 at 10:15 a.m. . The class prepares you to be confirmed or received into The Episcopal Church and become a member of Christ Church.
ADULT CHRISTIAN FORMATION takes place in the Parish Hall from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00. Dr. Robert Baker will teach on the Old Testament Book of Job.
SAMARITAN OUTREACH DINNER/AUCTION will take place at the Bradenton Yacht Club on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The price is $30 per person. Donations for the auction would be appreciated and can be brought to the Thrift Shop or Church office. Tickets are on sale from any Outreach member or the Church office.
The annual ENGLISH TEA will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. A Fashion Show will feature Beall’s new Spring Collection. Tickets are on sale at the Church office and the Thrift Shop.
THE COUNTERTOP ENSEMBLE will present a concert of choral music, "From Darkness to Light," on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m. The Ensemble, which consists of 8 singers, was founded in 2005 and sings both mixed and treble choral music. The Ensemble's performance at Christ Church will present a wide range of choral music--something for everyone! The Ensemble has released two CD's: "Seraphic Flames: Duets, Trios & Quartets of the Renaissance and Baroque" and the “Monteverdi Vespers of 1610.” Tickets are available in advance at the Church Office, or at the door. Suggested donation: $10 adults, $3 students.
THE CENTER FOR SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT offers free and confidential counseling, guidance and direction for various challenges we all face. The DAUGHTER’S OF THE KING will start a new Bible Study on Thursday, February 16, 2012 in Meeting Room #1. The study entitled “Calm My Anxious Heart” deals with worry. The 12 week study will provide the help to change your anxieties for godly peace and contentment. The cost of the book is $5 and can be ordered through the Church office. THE NEW ECW DIRECTORY for 2011-2012 is available from the office. The cost is $4.00.
THE THRIFT STORE IS OPEN MONDAY TO FRIDAY from 10:00 a. m. to 4:00 p.m and SATURDAYS from10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Is your linen closet full and overflowing? The Thrift Shop needs towels and bedding (except for mattress pads and pillows) and Home décor items, dishes, glasses, flatware, jewelry etc. We can arrange pickup of furniture as well.
THE LORD’S PANTRY is in need of spaghetti sauce, cereal, soup, macaroni and cheese and peanut butter (16 oz). Call the Church office if you are interested. We appreciate your continued support of this important ministry.
WEEKDAY SERVICES on Monday and Wednesday begin at 12:00 noon. The services take place in the Chapel. There is a 6:30 p.m. HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE in the Chapel every Wednesday evening.
MEN'S GROUP BIBLE STUDY meets each Thursday in Meeting Room 1 at 7:00 a.m. This is a group of Christian men helping each other grow and develop in their faith. Currently they are reviewing the daily devotional by Oswald Chambers, “My Utmost for His Highest”. All are welcome.
There is a BIBLE STUDY that takes place every Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m -11:00 a.m in Meeting Room #1. The study focuses on our upcoming Sunday's lectionary (the Opening Collect, Old Testament, Psalm, New testament, and Gospel.
CHRIST CHURCH will once again present a varied series of concerts during 2011-12. Please pick up a concert brochure from the Narthex. Check the Church website for concert times and dates and mark your calendars now. A donation is always welcome since freewill offerings and ticket sales cover only about half the cost of these special events.
GIFT CARDS with a lovely picture of Christ Church on the outside have been designed to accompany your donation to the Samaritan Outreach Program. These cards are available in the Office. This is a great way to give a gift to honor one of your friends, relatives or co-workers and help make a difference to those in need.
AN ALTAR FLOWER SIGN UP BOARD is in the Narthex. If you would like to honor the memory of a loved one or offer your thanksgiving to God for special blessings by donating flowers ($60.00), please sign the board and call Maryam Whitaker in the Church office with details.
The Diocese has changed the method by which parishioners advise the Church about redirecting their portion of the assessment that goes to the National Church. If you wish your funds to go to the National Church, then you do not need to do anything. However, if you do not wish your funds to go to the National Church please submit a card with authorization to redirect the funds. These cards are available in the Narthex and in the Church office. Please complete the card and return it to the office or drop it in the offering plate. You are welcome to call the office if you have any questions.
